Betty (our dog)

Betty came to us the way most important things do: without warning, on our porch. We loved her from day one but did the responsible thing and asked around, posted, waited, but nobody claimed her, which in hindsight makes sense. She had clearly decided where she wanted to live and who she wanted to live with.

There was one complication. Somebody in this house was allergic to dogs. That problem lasted a few months and then quietly resolved itself, because it turns out the human immune system will negotiate with anyone who is cute enough and refuses to leave.

She showed up house-trained on day one. Stays inside the yard no matter how much freedom we hand her. She simply knows her boundaries and respects it, which is more than we can say for most drivers.

She has a white marking on her chest that makes people stop and look twice, the Tesla logo. We did not do this. She came that way, badged from the factory :-), and apparently she has an unmistakable affection for the car that bears the same mark.

So when we started filming, there was never a question of whether Betty would be involved. Betty is involved in everything we do. That's her whole thing.
